Chronic Pelvic Pain & Pelvic Floor Myalgia Workshop

We designed a new multidisciplinary training program for assessment of the pelvic floor musculature in patients presenting with chronic pelvic pain. We performed a research study and found for both hands-on and video-based versions of the training program to be effective and useful for clinical practice.

Training Program: Objectives

At the conclusion of this workshop participants will be able to:

  1. Identify pelvic floor myalgia as a possible cause or contributor to chronic pelvic pain (Medical Expert)
  2. Describe the anatomy of pelvic floor musculature (Scholar)
  3. Perform a comprehensive musculoskeletal examination of the pelvic floor for patients presenting with chronic pelvic pain (Medical Expert)
  4. Demonstrate administration of trigger point injections into pelvic floor muscles (Medical Expert)

Target audience: Obstetricians & Gynecologists, resident physicians, medical students
